Self-care

Self-care

Self-care is essential for everyone. It helps manage stress, prevents burnout, and boosts overall well-being. Taking time for ourselves builds resilience and improves relationships, making it easier to handle life’s challenges.

Here’s a poem on the topic, written by one of our volunteer counsellors, Katie:

Self-care

What it is to write!

To put my pen to this page and feel the flow of ink
words formed from head and heart.

What it is to be moved by the swell of strings,
the tenderness and warmth of a bow
dancing along an exquisite note.

What it is to swirl a paintbrush in water
the gentle clink of it against the glass.

To be still long enough to watch a mountain
disappear and reappear from behind
sheets of rain and cloud.

To be overwhelmed by the audacity of the wind
and grateful for the shelter from it.

To notice the warmth of the sun on skin.

To feel compelled to dance.

What it is to live!
